Set up your wedding website and gift list

Go to Website in the sidebar and choose Create website. It fills itself in from your plan and stays a draft until you choose Publish website. The website and gift list are on every plan. Using your own domain needs Premium or Unlimited. PlanHitch never handles gift money: guests give through your own link.

Works on: Wedding website, password protection and gift list: every plan. Your own domain and removing "Made with PlanHitch": Premium and Unlimited. · Updated 26 October 2026

How to do it

  1. 1

    Create the website

In the sidebar, choose Website. Choose Create website. It fills itself in from your plan, and stays a draft so you can check it first.

  2. 2

    Choose a style

On the Style tab, pick one of the seven styles, then adjust the Colours and Typefaces if you like. Choose Save style.

  3. 3

    Add your words and photos

On the Content tab, add a Hero image, a Couple photo, A line under your names, Our story, A note from you, Travel and places to stay and Contact details. Choose Save content.

  4. 4

    Preview and publish

Choose Preview to see the site as guests will. When you're happy, choose Publish website.

  5. 5

    Share it

Once published, copy the link, download or print the QR code, or share it on WhatsApp.

Styles

There are seven styles, one for each invitation suite: Laurel, Heather, Golden hour, Grove, Thistle, Shore and Midnight. If you've made an invitation from a suite, the website starts in the matching style.

On the Style tab, Colours has a Main colour (your names, headings, buttons and the footer), a Second colour (dates, labels and supporting text) and an Accent colour (the artwork and fine rules). Typefaces lets you choose one for Names and headings and one for Everything else.

Sections

The site is made of sections: A note from you; The day, from your running order; Venues, from your booked venues; Travel and places to stay; RSVP; Gift list and registry links; Questions and answers; Photos; Couple photo; Our story; and Contact.

On the Sections tab, move sections up or down and switch each one on or off. Choose Save sections.

Some sections only appear once there's something in them. For example, the couple photo section stays hidden until you add a photo.

The day and venues

The day's timings come from your running order. Under The day, on your website, tick what guests should see, then choose Save schedule. Supplier arrivals and your own morning stay private. Choose Back to automatic to return to PlanHitch's own selection.

Venues come from the venues you've marked as booked.

Photos, questions and extras

Use the Gallery tab to add photos to the Photos section.

On the Extras tab, add Registry links to lists you keep elsewhere, and FAQs for questions such as parking, children and dress code. Guests tap a question to open its answer.

Page title and description sets what shows in the browser tab and in link previews. Choose Save extras.

Privacy

A published website can be opened by anyone with the link. Your website is never listed in search engines.

To add a password, open the Privacy tab, enter a password of at least 4 characters, repeat it and choose Turn on protection. Visitors then have to enter it before they see the site. Share the password with guests separately from the link.

To change it, enter a new one and choose Update password. To take it off, choose Remove.

Publishing and sharing

While the site is a draft, guests can't see it. Choose Publish website to make it live.

Once published, you'll see your link with buttons to copy it, download or print the QR code, share it on WhatsApp and Open the site. You can print the QR code on your invitations and signs. Changes you save show on the site straight away.

Your website's address is planhitch.com/weddings/ followed by a code PlanHitch makes when you create the site. It isn't your names, and you can't change it. To give guests an address of your own, use your own domain.

To take the site down, choose Unpublish. Guests who open the link will find nothing there until you publish it again. Their RSVPs and gift choices are kept.

Guests reply from the RSVP section, where they enter the PIN from their invitation.

Use your own domain

On Premium and Unlimited, you can put your website at a domain you own, such as ourwedding.co.uk. On the free plan, Your own domain shows a See plans button instead.

Under Your own domain, enter the domain and choose Save domain. Add the record shown (the Type, Name and Value) where you manage your domain's DNS, then choose Check DNS. Registrars usually apply it within minutes, occasionally up to an hour.

When the check passes, your site is live on your domain, with a security certificate issued automatically. Your PlanHitch address keeps working too.

To stop using it, choose Remove domain.

After the wedding

The day after the wedding, your website turns into a thank-you page in the same design, with your guests' photos, the film and your Wrapped cards, and a note from you. RSVP, travel and the running order step back. It only shows what you've already shared. This is on unless you turn it off.

Under After the wedding, use the Turn into a thank-you page switch to turn it on or off, write Your note to guests, choose What it shows, then choose Save.

Set up your gift list

In the sidebar, choose Website, then the Gift list tab.

Choose Add gift for something you'd like. Give it a Name and, if you like, a Note, a Price (£), How many you'd like, a link to Where to buy it, and a Picture.

Choose Add fund for something you're saving towards, such as a honeymoon. Give it a Name, What it's for, a Link to give (your own PayPal, Monzo or bank payment link), Other ways to give, and an optional Picture.

Use the arrows to change the order. Use the menu on an item to Edit or Delete it.

What guests do on the gift list

Guests see your gift list in the gift list section of your website, alongside any registry links.

For a gift, they choose I'll get this, enter Your name and, if you asked for more than one, how many. They can add an email and A note for them. The gift then shows as Taken, so nobody else buys the same thing. See it in the shop takes them to the link you added.

For a fund, Give to this fund opens your own payment link. They can then choose Let them know you gave, so you know who to thank.

A guest can undo their choice from the same browser they made it in.

How the money reaches you

PlanHitch never handles the money. Guests buy gifts from the shop you link to, and give to funds through your own payment link or the details you add in Other ways to give.

On your Gift list page you see who said they're getting each gift or gave to each fund, with any note. If a guest tells you they're not getting a gift after all, remove their name and the gift shows as available again. Removing a name from a fund doesn't change any money they sent.
